Thats not nice calling someone a bit mental because their opinion differs from yours.

I can name many top footballers who started their careers in one position only to change to another.

Paul Warhurst centre back/ centre forward
Billy Bonds right back/Midfield/centre back
Geoff Hurst right half/centre forward
Frank McAvennie Midfield/striker
Paul Madelly (spelling) played numbers 1 to 11 for Leeds

I suppose you assume Ron Greenwood, John Lyall and Don Revie to have been a bit mental

Conte played 3 at the back almost religiously his last 2 years at Juve and about 1/2 the time in his first one.

Remember he had Barzagli, Bonucci, and Chiellini (and even Ogbonna sometimes)

Lato

so you want to play our best winger in a central role, and our other winger as a striker? sorry mate but I think you're a bit mental ha-ha, if you are going to play two up top then you really want a pacy poacher like chicharito alongside the taller man.

andy I'll take your team but swap Noble for Obiang and give the armband to Arnie, an inspirational leader on the pitch

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
He prefers 4 at the back, he has been working on 4231 with the team since he took over and has played it in every single pre-season game, i highly doubt he is going to suddenly change the formation and tactics that he wants them to learn after just one game.

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
Its been said that MP doesn't play 3 at the back......

Did Conte never play a 3 prior going to Chelsea?

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
Those who drop Noble - I respect your opinion as this is what the site’s all about, but I do think Noble is fast becoming our current scapegoat - just like Nolan before him.
No team requires 10 out-field players with lightening pace, which of course he lacks. Every team needs a boss-man, someone who can get stuck in, motivate, look up, pick out a pass (which he does, often). Whatever our thoughts on previous managers, they’ve all gone for him as he brings those leadership qualities to the game. Be interesting to see if Pellegine sticks with him - as I would do - or agrees with you Noble naysayers.

My apologies, just saw him on the end.

Although to be fair, if we are judging things on one game these days.

I remember Ogbonna did playing left-back against Real Madrid in the Champions League once, (Tevez and Pogba and were also in the side, to give an idea of the time). And he wasn't the worst defender in a 2-1 loss. It was probably the poorest game I have ever seen Chiellini play.

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
Wilshere is happier playing deeper - he's actually come out and said he needs to dislodge Henderson in the England team. His preference is to be deeper.

Him and Obiang is good for me

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
Fredericks, Masuaka, Noble and Antonio all played themselves out of the team on Sunday. Rice played he's way out of CM berth.

Zabaleta was one of the few consistently above average players last season and should've started the season with Fredericks trying to dislodge him.

Fabianski

Zabaleta - Balbuena - Ogbonna - Cresswell (if fit - if not, has to be Masuaka as we have no other option there)

Obiang Wilshere

Yarmolenko - Arnie - Anderson

Pea

Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
I'm guessing that eusebiovic means Cresswell at left back, ioc.......

ironsofcanada 5:44 Mon Aug 13
Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
Ogbonna is not a left back especially for this manager.

ironsofcanada 5:42 Mon Aug 13
Re: Starting XI for Bournemouth
He might try his 4 attacking player setup because you know he wants to.

So Hernandez for Rice and hopefully Yarmalenko for Antonio and Cresswell for Masuaku

Rip-roaring, free-scoring
